Japan's world and Paralympic champion Takeshi Suzuki showed off his technical prowess to claim a first win of the season on a day of slalom action at the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Alpine Skiing World Cup in St Moritz.

Suzuki, who will try and successfully defend his men’s sitting world title in Tarvisio, Italy next year, won in a combined time of 1 min 30.56sec in the Swiss resort.

United States' Tyler Walker placed second in 1:31.96 while bronze was taken by Germany's Georg Kreiter in 1:32.09.

Anna-Lena Forster emerged triumphant in an all-German battle in the corresponding women's event after getting the better of team-mate Anna Schaffelhuber.

Forster's quicker first run proved key for a time of 1:37.57.

Schaffelhuber had to be content with second in 1:39.02 while US hope Laurie Stephens placed a distant third in 1:56.74.

The Netherlands’ Anna Jochemsen also took a first win of the season to claim women's standing gold in 1:47.90.

Germany's Andrea Rothfuss crossed second in 1:48,94 while Erin Latimer of Canada was third in 1:51.02.

French newcomer Arthur Bauchet continued his excellent run of form in the men’s standing.

The 16-year-old won in 1:27.67 ahead of Austria's Thomas Grochar, in 1:28.48, and Australia's Mitchell Gourley, in 1:29.61.

Slovakia’s Miroslav Haraus won the men's visually impaired event in 1:29.07.

Italy’s Giacomo Bertagnolli finished second just 0.15 seconds behind.

Spain’s giant slalom winner Jon Santacana Maiztegui completed the podium by placing third in a time of 1:30.25.

In the women’s visually impaired, 2015 World Championships silver medallist Melissa Perrine took her first win of the season in 1:41.90.

The Australian finished 0.46 clear of Great Britain's Millie Knight.

Henrieta Farkasova of Slovakia placed third in 1:43.46.
