Spaniard Jon Santacana Maiztegui returned to winning form by claiming visually impaired giant slalom gold at the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Alpine Skiing World Cup in St. Moritz today.

Skiing alongside guide Miguel Galindo, the three-time Paralympic champion produced a superb performance in freezing conditions in the Swiss resort to win by 0.41 seconds in 1min 41.13sec ahead of Slovakia's Jakub Krako.

Canada's Mac Marcoux was third in a combined time of 1:42.38 across his two runs.

Britain’s Millie Knight followed up on her first season win in the giant slalom in Kuhtai with victory in the corresponding women's race today.

She finished in 1:47.29 to beat Slovakia's Henrieta Farkasova, in 1:50.79, and British team-mate Kelly Gallagher, in  third with 1:52.25.

In the men’s standing division, French 16-year-old Arthur Bauchet made a superb World Cup debut in posting the two fastest runs of the day.

He finished in a blistering 1:38.05 to beat United States' Thomas Walsh by 0.76.

Martin France of Slovakia was third in 1:39.73.

Sochi 2014 Paralympic silver medallist Andrea Rothfuss completed a superb few days with women's standing victory after two gold medals in Kuhtai.

The German took the lead after the second run to clock 1:48.19, enough for a 1.73 second victory over Slovakian rival Petra Smarzova.

Bigna Schmidt gave host country Switzerland something to cheer about with third in 1:54.01.

Austria’s Sochi 2014 bronze medallist Roman Rabl also continued his winning run in the men’s sitting class with a third victory of the new season. 

Just 0.22 seconds separated him and Germany’s reigning world champion Georg Kreiter in second as the Austrian won in 1:40.38. 

Japan’s Taiki Morii, a podium finisher from the 2015 World Championships, was third in 1:42.10 despite posting the fastest second run.

Germany’s Anna Schaffelhuber eased to victory over compatriot Anna-Lena Forster in the women's sitting event.

She won by a mammoth 8.02 seconds in 1:44.40 as Japan’s Momoka Muraoka finished a distant third in 1:55.89.

Action is due to continue with more giant slalom races in the Swiss resort tomorrow.
