Lassana Palenfo, the President of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA), has visited Algiers as part of preparations for the 2018 African Youth Games.

The Ivorian, also an honorary member of the International Olympic Committee, was joined in the Algerian capital by Ahmed Nasser Mostefa, President of the Association of African Sports Confederations.

Both visited competition sites for the Games, which will serve as a qualifying event for the 2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games in Argentina's capital Buenos Aires.

They also met with Algeria's Minister for Youth and Sports, El Hadi Ould Ali, and the Minister for Maghreb and African Affairs and the Arab League, Abdelkader Messahel.

During the visit, Palenfo signed the hosting contract for the African Youth Games alongside Ali and the President of the Algerian National Olympic Committee, Mustapha Berraf.

The Wali of Algiers, Mohamed Kebir Addou, was also present.
