She will now head into the final on Saturday (December 17) knowing she will make a dent into Gasser’s lead in the season’s rankings, as the Austrian is not in Colorado due to injury.

Ormerod sits second in the table on 1,660 points, a gap of 1,340 from Gasser.

Slovenia’s Klaudia Medlova was the top qualifier with 96.00, while Julia Marino and Jamie Anderson came third and fourth respectively in front of their home crowd.

Enni Rukajarvi of Finland and Norway’s Kjersti Buaas picked up the last two spots in the final.

In the men’s side of the competition, Belgium’s Seppe Smits and Billy Morgan of Britain missed the opportunity to decrease the World Cup lead of Canadian Mark McMorris, who is not competing in Colorado, as they failed to qualify for the final.

Norwegian snowboarder Markus Olimstad and Canada’s Max Parrot topped the qualification heats with scores of 93.00 and 97.00 points respectively.

Two more Canadians, Max Eberhardt and Sebastien Toutant, also made the final along with United States quartet Chris Corning, Ryan Stassel, Eric Willet and Nikolas Baden.

Finnish duo Kalle Jarvilehto and Roope Tonteri complete the final line-up, which also takes place on Saturday.
