The 28-year-old double Olympic gold medallist could not be caught on a day of domination for the Germans, who won all six medals available.

Geisenberger twice set a new track record en-route to her victory, with times of 55.401sec and 55.323sec combining for her overall winning mark of 1min 50.724. 

The previous best time at the course was 56.154sec which was broken by all of the top eight today.

"It was great fun out there today, especially the second run," said Geisenberger, who now boasts 34 wins at World Cup level.

"You really only get one shot on ice like that in these warm temperatures. 

"It was a perfect day all round, both for me and for the German team."

Tatjana Hufner, who won five overall World Cup crowns in a row from 2008 onwards before Geisenberger began her spell of dominance, was second today.

The Vancouver 2010 Olympic champion clocked a combined 1:51.132 with Dajana Eitberger completing the German top three in 1:51.389.

There was also a clean sweep for the host nation in the doubles, which was won by Toni Eggert and Sascha Benecken.

The 2014-15 World Cup champions, who were second last season, began their bid to regain their title in a time of 1:25.905.

Their second run time of 42.943sec was also a track record.

Robin Johannes Geueke and David Gamm were second with a time of 1:26.287 with defending champions Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt having to settle for bronze.

The four-time World Cup winners and double Olympic gold medallists were timed at 1:26.426.

The men's singles will be held in Winterberg tomorrow.
