Prague is expected to be named as host of the 2017 Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) General Assembly, insidethegames understands.

The Czech capital was named during today's Executive Council meeting here.

Official confirmation is now expected at General Assembly meeting, due to start tomorrow.

It will mark the first time in four years that a European city has hosted the annual event since an extraordinary edition took place in Lausanne in 2013.

Bangkok in Thailand played host in 2014 before Washington D.C. did so last year.

Prague also hosted the European Olympic Committees General Assembly in 2015 and an International Olympic Committee Session in 2003.

It follows other promotional efforts by the Czech Olympic Committee, which included an Olympic Park set-up on the banks of the Lipno reservoir in South Bohemia, to promote sport and an active lifestyle throughout Rio 2016.

ANOC also announced, following the meeting, that they are "exploring further cooperation opportunities with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).

They are also working with other sporting bodies to "create a template to facilitate cooperation between national authorities and sports organisations in a country".

Reports were also given by the chairs of each of the ANOC Commissions and Working Groups following their meetings here yesterday.

These will be presented in full during the General Assembly.

"The Executive Council meeting here in Doha was very productive," said ANOC President Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah.

"We heard nine excellent reports from the chairs of our Commissions and Working Groups who will report their progress to the ANOC General Assembly tomorrow.

"It is very important that we continue to ensure that our Commissions and Working Groups deliver initiatives that have a real impact on the quality of the support ANOC provides its NOCs.

"It is not just a matter of saying the right things but also taking action and I believe the NOCs will be happy with the progress that has been made when they hear the reports in the General Assembly."
