Austria's Anna Gasser won the women's title at the International Ski Federation (FIS) Snowboard Big Air World Cup in Milan today.

The 25-year-old, a slopestyle silver medallist at the 2015 World Championships, claimed a commanding win at the EXPerience Park in the Italian city.

She claimed a score of 174.25 points to gain the maximum 1,000 World Cup points available.

Her effort eclipsed the 160.25 points the United States' Hailey Langland earned for the silver medal.

Sarka Pancochova of the Czech Republic took bronze on 153.75 points.

In the men's competition, Norway's Marcus Kleveland came out on top, tallying 188.00 points.

That meant 2011 slopestyle world champion Seppe Smits had to settle for the silver medal after he was awarded 178.50.

Canada's Mark McMorris, the Olympic slopestyle bronze medallist at Sochi 2014, won the same colour medal today with a score of 173.00 points.

The event is the first stop on the newly created "Super Series" competition, which will crown a champion snowboarder after three legs.

World Cup events in Mönchengladbach in Germany and Quebec City in Canada will also count, on December 3 and February 11 respectively.
