Russia's reigning world champion Evgenia Medvedeva will headline the women's field at the Trophee de France - the fourth leg of this season's International Skating Union (ISU) Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series at the AccorHotels Arena in Paris.

Medvedeva, also the European champion, won the second leg of this year's circuit - the Skate Canada event in Mississauga last month.

Among her challengers in the French capital will be Japan's three-time world champion Mao Asada and American Gracie Gold, an Olympic team bronze medallist at Sochi 2014.

In the men's competition, two-time and reigning world champion Javier Fernandez of Spain will be looking to add to his victory at the Rostelecom Cup, the third leg of this year's Series which took place in Moscow last weekend.

Skate America bronze medallist Adam Rippon of the United States could provide his sternest challenge, alongside another American, ISU Junior Grand Prix Final champion Nathan Chen who will debut on the senior circuit.

Kazakhstan's Denis Ten, the world bronze medallist, returns after an injury break and will also be in the frame.

The pairs event will see world bronze medallist Aliona Savchenko and Bruno Massot of Germany in contention, the Rostelecom Cup champions.

They will need to be aware of Russia's European bronze medallists Evgenia Tarasova and Vladimir Morozov and home French pairing Vanessa James and Morgan Cipres.

The best chance of home success, however, will come in the ice dance where Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron are the reigning world champions.

Canadians Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier will be strong challengers alongside Skate America silver medalists Madison Hubbell and Zachary Donohue of the US.

Action is due to begin tomorrow with the short programme across all four disciplines, before the champions are crowned on Saturday (November 12).

The French leg of the Series last year - the Trophee Eric Bompard in Bordeaux - was abandoned after one day of action due to the Paris terror attacks.

France's Minister of Interior Affairs Bernard Cazeneuve and the Mayor of Bordeaux Alain Juppe opted to pull the plug as a string of sporting events were cancelled in light of the atrocities.
