Britain's four-time Winter Olympian Chemmy Alcott has held a week-long training session in the Austrian resort of Hintertux with four budding ski racers, who won the exclusive opportunity through their applications for the "Jamie Ritblat Award for Achievement".

CDC Performance, the coaching business delivered by Alcott and husband Dougie Crawford, a 25-time British downhill ski racing champion, helped narrow down the top candidates to join their most recent camp based on their "keen enthusiasm and determination to succeed in their snowsports careers"

They were aided by principal sponsor of British Ski and Snowboard (BSS), Delancey, which covered all costs and whose founder and chief executive is Ritblat.

Thomas Rascagneres, David Cameron and Aimee Hudgell and Lois Saunders, two apprentices from the innovative youth charity Snow Camp, were each flown from the UK to Hintertux to join 16 other 12 to 18-year-olds on the seven-day ski racing camp.

"We couldn’t have asked for more motivated and inspirational winners to join us," Alcott, who competed at the four Winter Olympic Games between 2002 and 2014, said.

"Despite the varied abilities and different goals in their snowsports future, all embraced the challenge and thrived through their experience.

"Being part of their daily development and witnessing first hand both their technical improvements and also surge in confidence and self-belief was fantastic for all their coaches.

"Also having the added benefit of Lois and Aimee from Snow Camp help educate the rest of our team on the amazing opportunity they have and how fortunate they are to be able to follow their own ski dreams."

Of the four award winners, Cameron was noticed to be one of the stand-outs on the camp because of his "positive attitude and sheer determination to absorb as much from the experience as possible".

Having only discovered skiing last year, he has since raced in three ski races and been invited to join the GB Ski X Home Nations Academy.

Cameron thanked Delancey for the opportunity to go on the CDC Performance camp.

"I think I’ve had one of the best experiences in my life at the moment really to date," said the 14-year-old.

"It’s been really good and I definitely want to come again.

"Thank you for opening it up to me - going on a CDC camp."

The two girls in the group of four chosen, Hudgell and Saunders, were both picked from Snow Camp for being the most deserving inner-city graduates in the programme.

Rascagneres, the most experienced of the quartet, has already been on multiple ski racing camps.

The 16-year-old is already member of the BSS Under-18 Alpine Development Squad and has won several titles during his career, including the British Indoor Under-18 Alpine Series.

Alcott competed in all five disciplines of World Cup Alpine ski racing - downhill, super G, giant slalom, slalom, and combined.

As well as appearing at four Winter Olympics and seven International Ski Federation (FIS) World Championships, she has also been crowned British national champion seven times.

She retired from international competition following the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.
