Japan’s Nana Sasaki earned gold in the women’s 10 metre platform competition on the penultimate day of the International Swimming Federation (FINA) Diving Grand Prix in Singapore.

She had been a class above the field in the preliminary stage of the event yesterday at the OCBC Aquatic Centre and continued her form in the final.

Sasaki would finish with a total of 318.90 points, which would see her finish some way ahead of her compatriot Matsuri Ari, who ended on 294.40.

Australia’s Tamara Irvine could not replicate her performance from qualifying, but her team-mate Nikita Hains came through to win bronze with 261.85 points.

China secured a one-two in the women’s three metre springboard event, with Linhai Chen triumphing on 436.80.

Linwei Li earned the silver medal by scoring 412.60, while 368.35 proved enough for Japan’s Yuto Araki to complete the podium.

Two mixed synchronised competitions also took place on the penultimate day of the Grand Prix season.

The three metre springboard event was won by Hazuki Miyamoto and Reo Nishida of Japan, with the duo scoring 263.10 points.

They saw off the challenge of Singapore’s Ashlee Tan and Hazuki Miyamoto, who ended on 259.52.

Ukraine’s Valeriia Liulko and Yevhen Naumenko were the only listed competitors in the 10m platform competition.

The duo scored 259.62.

The Grand Prix will draw to a close tomorrow.
