The Ghana Olympic Committee are set to stage an International Olympic Committee (IOC) Athlete Career Programme Outreach workshop.

The workshop is due to take place over two days on November 23 and 24, with elite athletes the main target.

It is hoped the event will provide practical advice to help athletes prepare for life after sport.

The workshop is aimed to educate athletes and encourage them to begin planning well in advance of their retirement.

A total of 16 athletes represented the African nation at the Rio 2016 Games in August, representing their highest contingent since Athens 2004.

Despite failing to claim a first Olympic medal since Barcelona 1992, the Games were notable for the Ghanaian team as they made their debuts in swimming, women’s judo and men’s weightlifting.

The workshop has previously taken place in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Togo and Morocco.

Tunisia, Gabon, Congo, Cameroon and the Ivory Coast are among other African nations to benefit.
