January Holze has been elected as the successor to Ingo Weiss as chairman of the German Olympic Sports Confederation's (DOSB) German Sports Youth board.

Holze was elected at the General Assembly of the body in the Electoral Palace in the city of Mainz.

The German Sport's Youth organises the sports programmes of children and young people up to the age of 27.

Holze, who served as vice-president under Weiss,  was the unanimous choice after he secured 97.5 per cent of the votes.

"I am overwhelmed by the great confidence that my affiliates have shown with this election result," Holze said.

"I will do everything to continue the involvement of young people in sport, it must be further strengthened and promoted."

Further elections took place at the Assembly with the role of deputy chairman going to Benny Folkman and Stefan Raid of German Basketball Youth becoming a new member of Finance.

Tobias Dollase, Lisa Druba, Tamara Rosenbach and Kirsten Hasenpusch were also all elected to the Board.
