Portugal and Catalonia secured semi-final spots at the European Korfball Championships today with hard-fought victories over their closest rivals in the Dutch city of Dordrecht.

They triumphed 17-12 this time around in their Pool B encounter after withstanding an English charge from 10-4 down at halfway.

Pedro Correia and Tiago Luz top scored with four apiece.

The Portuguese will now face Pool A winners Belgium in the semi-final on Friday (October 28).

Belgium sealed their place at the top of the group courtesy of a 20-11 success over fourth placed Czech Republic today.
