International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) Blind Football has held a training camp in Austria’s capital Vienna as part of its UEFA-funded Development Project Europe.

A total of 10 players and 10 coaches took part in the camp, organised in partnership with the Austrian Disability Sport Federation and Austrian football club Rapid Vienna.

Participants were firstly given a presentation on the Development Project Europe, which aims to take blind football to every IBSA Europe member country and UEFA member association.

This was followed by an introduction to the sport and training sessions at a local sports centre.

IBSA Blind Football says it will continue to assist the programme with a view to helping Austria set up a national blind football team.

Austria competed at the 2014 IBSA Partially Sighted Football European Championships in Italian city La Spezia, finishing seventh.

The country also hosted a five-nation international friendly tournament featuring England, France, Ireland and IBSA world champions Ukraine in Steinbrunn in November 2015.

A training camp arranged within Development Project Europe was held in Portuguese town Lousada in March, when coaches, players, physical education teachers and representatives from nearby Porto Football Club were in attendance.
