The event, scheduled to be held from July 14 to 21, will largely take place at the multi-purpose Lebanon Sports Complex, with finals set to be held at a nearby high school.

The competition, the premier Club Championships event for the flying disc discipline of ultimate, is comprised of city club teams who are endorsed by their National Federations.

It will include men’s, women’s, mixed divisions and masters division tournaments.

The sport’s worldwide governing body are expecting club sides from around 50 nations to descend on Cincinnati for the event.

"The World Ultimate Club Championships is an incredible event where we showcase the premier club teams from around the world," WFDF President Robert Rauch said. 

"Our last edition in Lecco, Italy in 2014 attracted a record 160 teams and nearly 4,000 athletes.

"We expect participation from club teams from nearly 50 countries in 2018, and the experienced organisers, who have hosted 21 major ultimate tournaments over the past 10 years, are expected to put on an incredible event."

The Organising Committee for the World Ultimate Club Championships has already been established and will be led by Dale Wilker, who heads up the Cincinnati Ultimate Players Association.

They will be supported by USA Ultimate, the governing body for the discipline in America. 

"The Cincinnati Ultimate Players Association is excited to host the WFDF 2018 World Ultimate Club Championships," said Wilker.

"We expect to create an unforgettable experience for players, coaches, and spectators because of our partners’ long history of collaborating to put on high-quality tournaments.

"Players will play with the world's best and fans will have the chance to watch some of the world’s most amazing athletes.

"Ultimate has millions of players and fans throughout the world.

"We're pleased be able to share our passion for this highly athletic sport with the people of southwestern Ohio and surrounding states."
