The first-ever national taekwondo coaching enrichment certificate programme, organised by the Pakistan Taekwondo Federation (PTF), has taken place in the city of Multan.

The inauguration ceremony was held at the Multan team house where around 150 black-belt taekwondo players gathered to participate in the programme.

International referee master Dr Muhammad Al-Sabeer from the United Arab Emirates formally opened the event, which was held at the city's Art Council Sports Gymnasium, by cutting a ribbon.

President of the PTF, Waseem Ahmed, was also present for the ceremony, alongside PTF general secretary Mutaza Hassan Bangash.

The event was backed by the World Taekwondo Federation.

Dr Al-Sabeer urged the players to "work hard and gather courage as nothing was impossible in life".

"I have won 59 national medals as well as about 14 trophies, and was training 2,000 taekwondo players in this country," he added.

"Pakistani taekwondo players have a lot of potential and they could perform well at international level as well."

He also advised the players in attendance to adopt better time management practices.

Ahmed added: "The purpose of organising such programmes was to share the experiences of taekwondo masters with youth.

"The Pakistan Taekwondo Federation is also taking various steps for promotion of the game at grassroots level."
