Snowsport Scotland has successfully launched a series of new instructor courses for those who wish to take their skills to new levels.

The Scottish national governing body is running a three-day foundation course, which provides an introduction into becoming a snowsports instructor.

Throughout the course, participants will be invited to work with beginner skiers and snowboarders at artificial slopes and mountain facilities.

"Being a snowsport instructor is a fantastic skill to possess," said Neil MacGrain, coach education manager at Snowport Scotland.

"We are delighted to introduce this platform to allow people to acquire the knowledge and experience it takes to teach at this level.

"Not only is becoming an instructor a huge accolade, it also provides a great opportunity for individuals to share their passion for the sport and pass this on to budding new talent.

"It is fantastic to be part of an individual’s development and help them to reach their full potential."

Snowsport Scotland is also bringing back its Alpine Ski Leader (ASL) and Ski Instructor Conversion courses, which have already generated a significant amount of interest.

The courses are scheduled to be held at Firpark Ski Centre in Tillicoultry, with training provided on October 29 and 30 before a formal assessment on November 12.

The course is designed for any individual who possesses an ASL qualification and would like to convert this to the new ski instructor qualification.

"All of the courses provided by Snowsport Scotland are delivered to an extremely high standard," said Rob Claridge, chief executive officer of Snowsport Scotland.

"We are recognised throughout the snowsports community for our expertise and genuine passion for the sport.

"We are well equipped to provide training at any level and we strive to provide the most effective training programmes to accelerate individuals."
