Hosts United States won three gold medals at the Pan-American Squash Championships in Hartford.

The Americans, staging the event for the first time, clinched both the men's and women's team competitions and the women's singles title at Trinity College.

In the men's team event, the home side downed Argentina 2-1 with Todd Harrity setting the ball rolling thanks to a 11-8, 11-6, 11-7 success over Leandro Romiglio.

Gonzalo Miranda levelled for the Argentinians with a 13-11, 8-11, 11-9, 11-7 success over Faraz Khan, but Christopher Gordon wrapped it up by beating Robertino Pezzota in the best-of-three final.

Gordon came through 11-8, 11-4, 11-2 to seal gold.

The American women also needed all three matches in their team final with Mexico as the country recorded another 2-1 win.

Eighteen-year-old Mariam Kamal came from behind to beat Diana Garcia 7-11, 11-8, 11-9, 7-11, 11-8, putting the US one up.

Mexico levelled as Luz Sarahi Lopez Dominguez saw off Grace Doyle 11-8, 11-6, 11-9, but Marina Stefanoni finished the job for the Americans.

She came through 8-11, 11-8, 11-1, 11-8 to defeat Dina Soledad Anguiano Gomez.

There was a second gold for Kamal as she beat compatriot Haley Menez in the women's singles final, 11-7, 11-5, 12-10.

Romiglio, disappointed with Argentina in the men's team final, had no problems in the men's individual event as he beat Mexico's Alberto Salazar 9-11, 11-4,  3-11, 12-10, 12-10 to become his country's first champion since 2004.

Salazar would enjoy better luck in the men's doubles final, teaming up with Eric Galvez to beat Romiglio and Pezzota 4-11, 11-4, 11-6.

Chile's Giselle Delgado and Anita Pinto won the women's doubles crown, beating Mexico's Dominguez and Nayelly Hernandez 11-8, 6-11, 11-10.

Argentina's Miranda teamed up with Antonella Falcione to win the mixed crown thanks to a 11-7, 9-11, 11-4 win over Colombia's Catalina Pelaez and Erick Herrera.
