Two-time Rugby World Cup winner Dan Carter will receive the autobiography prize at the SPORTEL Awards, it has been announced.

The legendary New Zealander, who was capped 112 times before retiring from the international game following his country’s World Cup triumph in England last year, will be given his award during next month’s SPORTELMonaco event at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco.

Carter, the fly-half who is the highest points scorer in international rugby union history, bowed out in style with a man-of-the-match performance in his side’s 34-17 win over Australia in the final at Twickenham Stadium in London.

The 34-year-old still plays at club level for Racing 92 in France.

He released his autobiography, entitled “Dan Carter: The Autobiography of an All Blacks Legend”, in November shortly after the World Cup.

It was shortlisted for the Cross Sports Book Awards, an annual prize given in Britain, in the International Sports Autobiography of the Year category.

The ceremony is due to be held on October 25, with the convention itself running from October 24 to 27.

The best international sports videos and illustrated books of the year are due to be recognised at the SPORTELAwards, which are usually attended by a host of leading sportspeople and celebrities.

Two-time Olympic gold medal-winning sprinter Donovan Bailey was announced as the President of the 2016 SPORTEL Awards Jury back in July.

The Canadian, who claimed top honours in the 100 metres and 4x100m relay at the Atlanta 1996 Games, is a three-time world record holder and three-time world gold medallist.

He is now a world renowned sports media analyst for leading broadcasters such as the BBC and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.

Bailey will chair the Jury of the Golden Podium Competition, selecting the most beautiful sports footage of the year.
