The International Tennis Federation (ITF) have confirmed that Davis Cup finalists Argentina and Croatia will be the top two seeds ahead of the World Group draw for the 2017 competition.

Davis Cup rules state that the two finalists are automatically ranked at number one and two - with Argentina named as the number one seed ahead of the Croatians.

It means that they will be drawn in opposite halves of the World Group draw and will therefore meet in the final again if they successfully negotiate their matches.

The two countries will meet in the final of this year's tournament between November 25 and 27, with Croatia due to host.

Argentina made their way through after a 3-2 semi-final victory against defending champions Great Britain, who have been seeded third for the 2017 draw.

The South American country has never won the premier team tournament in men's tennis, but they have been runners-up on four occasions.

Croatia beat France by the same scoreline in their last four contest, with the French seeded sixth for the draw.

Croatia won the Davis Cup for the first - and so far only - time in their history when they beat Slovakia 3-2 in the 2005 final.

The Czech Republic have been seeded fourth after a quarter-final appearance this year, ahead of Switzerland who are fifth.

Belgium and Serbia are sixth and seventh respectively.

Seeds three to eight have been named in accordance with the ITF's Davis Cup nations rankings, as of today.

The draw will be made at the offices of sponsor BNP Paribas in London on Thursday (September 22), at 1pm local time.

It will be streamed live online at www.daviscup.com.

The draws for groups I and II in both the Asia/Oceania and Europe/Africa zones will also take place on Thursday, with the ITF still needing to confirm a draw date for the Americas zone.
