Huge cheers for Jesus David de Marchena Acevedo, the flagbearer and sole Paralympian here from Aruba. He reaches halfway in the 100m freestyle S7 event after Britain's Jonathan Fox had won the race, and eventually touched in 2:17.84, but the crowd do not care... "This is the real Paralympic spirit," cries our Channel 4 commentator.
In fact the 22-year-old, who was born with spina bifida, is Aruba's first ever Paralympian.
