A strong field has been confirmed for the Professional Squash Association (PSA) US Open in Philadelphia.

The event - a leg of the PSA World Series - is the second tournament where qualification points are on offer for the season-ending finals in Dubai.

Egypt's world number ones Mohamed Elshorbagy and Nour El Sherbini will headline the men's and women's fields respectively, with the latter the reigning world champion.

The women's field will also include top American players Amanda and Sabrina Sobhy, with the former reaching the final of the Hong Kong Open already this season, in the first tournament that counted towards Dubai.

England's former world champion Laura Massaro heads to Philadelphia as the title holder, while Malaysia's three-time winner Nicol David and former world number one Raneem El Welily of Egypt will also be among those to watch.

Hong Kong champion Nouran Gohar of Egypt will also take part in the women's competition.

Joining Elshorbagy will be England's Nick Matthew, the 2007 winner, and defending champion Gregory Gaultier of France, who is also the reigning world champion.

American Chris Gordon occupies the men’s main draw wildcard position and will hope to go one better than his first round exit a year ago.

The draw will be made on September 14 with competition taking place at Drexel University between October 6 and 15.

In all, 112 players will take part.
