Athletics agent Federico Rosa, who has been charged with doping offences in Kenya, has had his case in the African country adjourned until November.

The Italian, who is being probed for "conspiracy to cause injuries to professional athletes through doping", will return to court on November 22 and 23 after the prosecution in the case today said they were not ready to proceed.

According to The Star, a letter from the Italian embassy to the country's Foreign Affairs ministry has prompted Rosa's file to be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions for further review.

Rosa has denied six counts of doping athletes.

He and his father Gabriele were both subject to questioning by Kenyan police in connection with the ongoing doping investigation.

Hotel rooms belonging to the two leading agents, whose company represented banned Kenyan athletes such as Rita Jeptoo, were searched by police during the country’s Olympic trials in Eldoret.

Federico Rosa was released on a 500,000 Kenyan Shilling bond (£3,737/$4,925/€4,471) and refunded the 300,000 Kenyan Shillings (£2,242/$2,955/€2,683) he paid to receive bail last month, but was denied access to his passport which he hoped to receive to attend the Rio 2016 Olympics.

The company run by the Rosa pair also represents the likes of half marathon specialist Mathew Kisorio, who served a doping ban until last year, and Agatha Jeruto, who was banned for four years in October after she tested positive for norandrosterone.

Jeptoo, a triple Boston Marathon champion, was suspended in 2014 for two years following a positive test for erythropoietin (EPO).

Claudio Berardelli, the former coach of Jeptoo, was also charged with doping offences by a court in Kenya in July.

The cases follow new doping laws being passed in the African nation earlier this year, in order to address a spate of drug-related scandals.

The country is currently in sporting turmoil, with the country's National Olympic Committee disbanded by the Government following the Rio 2016 Olympics.
