The bus was taking two skaters - Russia's Anna Tarusina and Latvia's Anzelika Klujeva - to compete at the ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating event in St-Gervais.

According to reports, the vehicle crashed at "full speed" into a power pole.

Two coaches who were on board were also taken to hospital, as well as the driver.

The incident took place on Thursday (August 25) with no details on the well-being of the group yet confirmed.

"On August 25, 2016, around 2pm local time, a shuttle bus transporting two athletes and two coaches from the official hotel to the ice rink, was involved in an accident," an ISU statement said.

"Anna Tarusina from Russia and Anzelika Klujeva from Latvia as well as their coaches and the driver were taken to hospital. 

"They were kept overnight for observation and additional treatment. 

"The medical teams are closely monitoring the situation and the ISU, Organising Committee and French Federation of Ice Sports (FFSG) are providing all the necessary support to the teams and athletes affected by the accident."

The event in St-Gervais is the first in the Junior Grand Prix season.

More than 300 young Skaters from more than 50 ISU members countries are expected to compete across seven events.
