The International Floorball Federation (IFF) is looking for organisers to host its women’s World Championships in 2021 and the men’s equivalent in 2022.

The women’s World Championships are scheduled to take place from December 4 to 12, 2021, while the men’s are planned for December 3 to 11, 2022.

Alternative dates are likely to be considered for the latter however, as the 2022 FIFA World Cup is due to be held from November 21 to December 18 in Qatar.

The IFF Rules and Competition Committee has been given the task to prepare a number of alternative dates for the event.

Associations must declare their interest in organising either of the events by e-mailing [email protected] no later than October 12.

The bidding process will begin thereafter.

Sweden have won seven of the 10 women’s World Championships since they were first held in 1997, including the five most recent editions.

The country’s men’s team has been even more dominant, winning eight of the 10 World Championships since they were inaugurated in 1996.

The only years in which they failed to win top honours were 2008 and 2010, losing in the final on both occasions to Finland.

Latvia is due to host this year’s men’s World Championships, while the 2017 women’s edition has been awarded to Slovakia.

The IFF was accepted as a member of the International World Games Association in May 2013.

Floorball is a type of floor hockey, an indoor team sport which was developed in the 1970s in Sweden, and is popular in Scandinavia.
