Brisbane's division of communications firm MediaCom has become the official media agency of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, after they joined the event’s sponsorship programme.
The company, founded in 1986 in Britain, have signed up as an Official Supplier of the Games - the third tier of sponsorship available.
As part of their role, MediaCom will “deliver strategic campaigns that will drive spectator participation and heighten public awareness” for both Gold Coast 2018 and the athletes who are due to compete at the Games, scheduled to run from April 4 to 15.
“MediaCom are a brand synonymous with connecting businesses with target audiences and given the key milestones Gold Coast 2018 has ahead over the next 20 months, their guidance and contribution will be very important,” Gold Coast 2018 chairman Peter Beattie said.
“It is heartening to see organisations like MediaCom demonstrate their confidence in an investment with Gold Coast 2018 and we look forward to working with them as we journey towards 2018.”
MediaCom, who call themselves the “Content and Connections Agency”, will play a key role in the lead-up to the Games.
They will be tasked with driving enthusiasm through communications strategies and MediaCom Brisbane managing director Katherine Williams says it is an “honour” for the company to be partnering with Gold Coast 2018.
“To be signed on as an Official Supplier for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games is a tremendous honour,” she said.
“It’s such an exciting time for Queensland to showcase home-grown talent and welcome the Commonwealth’s best athletes to compete on the world stage on the Gold Coast.
“We’re really looking forward to working with the Gold Coast 2018 team to make this the greatest Games ever.”
The company become the latest addition to the Organising Committee’s sponsorship portfolio after Aggreko penned a “significant” deal with Gold Coast 2018 yesterday.
Aggreko, who will be responsible for providing temporary power during the Games, became an Official Supporter of the event.
They are joined in the second tier of sponsorship by KPMG, MinterEllison, Seek, Ticketek and Atos.
Jupiters Gold Coast, Griffith University and Tafe Queensland are located in the top tier as they are the three Official Partners.
