Canada Snowboard has signed a four-year agreement with FA Design, which will see the clothing company provide equipment for their national speed teams.

The Canadian-based manufacturer have become the exclusive supplier of outerwear and technical clothing.

It will be used by Alpine, snowboard cross and the Para-snowboarding squads, the national governing body has confirmed.

Canadian snowboarders selected to represent their country at the 2018 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games in Pyeongchang are also likely to be kitted out by FA Design, with the deal due to run until the end of the 2019-2020 season.

FA Design clothing, founded by former parallel giant slalom competitor Freddy Ansara, is entirely made, designed, and born in Canada, providing a “completely unique and unprecedented synergy” with Canada Snowboard, they claim.

“This is a great news story, to have someone from the snowboarding family become a successful entrepreneur and then partner with us at Canada Snowboard to provide the current generation of national team members with outstanding clothing,” Canada Snowboard executive director Patrick Jarvis said.

“It’s exciting for the athletes, for us, and for FA Design.”

Ansara, who has over 10 years’ experience as a professional snowboarder, believes the partnership between the two organisations will have a “positive impact” for Canadian athletes.

“As a pro snowboarder myself for over 10 years, I understand the equipment needs that today’s athletes require to excel at the highest level,” he said.

“This partnership will not only have a positive impact for the athletes, but for Canada Snowboard as well.

“Working with a Canadian organisation, supporting Canadian athletes is what makes us most proud and together we will see our athletes on top of the podium in South Korea.

"At FA Design our goal is to change the perception of what snowboarding has to offer, and focus on showcasing what snowboarding is and how it can be a great experience.

"This shift starts with organisations like Canada Snowboard."
