The National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Moldova (MOC) has unveiled its Olympic House in capital city Chisinau after a renovation project.

Andrian Candu, the speaker of the country's Parliament, was one of two guests of honour alongside Alexander Kozlovsky, an Executive Committee member of the European Olympic Committees (EOC).

Guests were shown around by MOC President Veaceslav Jiglitchi, giving them the opportunity to visit the Olympic Museum and meet athletes and other notable members of the Moldovan sporting community.

Moldova's Olympic kit for Rio 2016 was also on display.

“The European Olympic Committees have always done their best to support the Moldovan NOC, as we have seen that after the dissolution of the Soviet Union the Moldovan Olympic Committee suffered the most, and we have seen that its leadership has always strived to do its best to support the development of sport in the country," said Kozlovsky.

He was awarded the International Olympic Committee's (IOC) Arts and Sports Trophy in 2014.

The renovation project was made possible thanks to the assistance of Olympic Solidarity, the EOC and the Moldovan Government.

Archer Alexandra Mirca was one of the Moldovan athletes present at the event, ahead of her participation at the Rio 2016 Olympics.
