The World Associations of Kickboxing Organizations (WAKO) is set to elect Poland’s Katarzyna Kociszewska as the new chairperson of its International Women’s Committee next month.

Kociszewska has been chosen by the WAKO Board to serve a four-year term and will be joined on the Committee by Italy’s Francesca Falsoni and Serbia’s Marijana Pelevic.

The election is due to take place on August 28, during the WAKO Cadets and Juniors World Championships at the Citywest Hotel and Convention Centre in Dublin.

Each member nation has the possibility to nominate representatives, with seven positions to be filled.

All continents must be included.

WAKO was founded in 1977 and has more than 120 affiliated countries representing all five continents.

The body is recognised by SportAccord, the Alliance of Independent Recognised Members of Sport, the International World Games Association and the Olympic Council of Asia.

It is a member of the International Committee Fair Play Committee and is fully-compliant with the World Anti-Doping Agency.

WAKO is due participate in World Games in Wroclaw 2017 as an invitational sport.
