Serbia thrashed Puerto Rico to reach the Rio 2016 men's Olympic basketball tournament as Croatia stunned Italy to also book their place.

Three qualifying tournaments each offered a single place in Brazil with the first two finals contested today.

In Belgrade, hosts Serbia eased to a 108-77 victory over their Caribbean rivals.

Bogdan Bogdanovic and Nikola Jokic were key in an explosive start as they combined for 15 points and seven assists in just seven minutes of play.

It means the Serbs will play in the Olympics for the first time as an independent country.

The Italians won the final three quarters but lost the first 19-12 as the game finished 70-70 after regulation time.
