Italy’s Massimo Fabbrizi delighted the home crowd at the European Shotgun Championship in Lonato del Garda, beating Croatia’s Josip Glasnovic in the men’s trap final.

With both competitors tied at 14-14, the match went to a shoot-off which the London 2012 silver medallist won 3-2.

Joao Azevedo triumphed 14-13 in an all-Portuguese bronze medal match against Jose Manuel Bruno Faria.

Earlier in the semi-finals, Fabbrizi and Glasnovic led the way with totals of 14, while Azevedo and Bruno Faria both managed 12.

Fabbrizi missed out on London 2012 gold to a Croatian with Giovanni Cernogoraz taking top honours. 

Kuwait's Fehaid Al-Deehani rounded out the podium in Britain's capital. 

Action is due to continue in Lonato del Garda tomorrow with the mixed teams trap event.

Italy is hosting the Championship for a 10th time with 42 nations and 445 athletes participating.
