Jamie Greubel Poser has been announced as the winner of the Bobsled Athlete of the Year award at the USA Bobsled and Skeleton’s annual banquet.

Held at the Colorado Springs Olympic Training Center, the ceremony was aimed at acknowledging the achievements of athletes throughout the 2015 to 2016 season, as well as bringing their latest training camp to a close.

Greubel Poser received her award after the most successful season of her career, with the 32-year-old having finished on the podium in six of the eight World Cup races throughout the season.

The Sochi 2014 bronze medallist earned two race victories, alongside her team-mate Cherrelle Garrett, with the duo ending second in the overall standings.

Annie O’Shea was named as Skeleton Athlete of the Year after winning two medals during the season, including a victory in front of a home crowd in Lake Placid.

After a strong debut season Evan Weinstock was named as the Most Valuable Player in recognition of his resilience and attitude, in addition to winning three medals on the North American Cup circuit when pushing for Justin Olsen.

“Receiving this award means a great deal to me and I believe it could have be received by any of my teammates,” Weinstock said.

“To be recognised by this organization for all the work that was put into this season is truly humbling.

“The rapid progression of Justin as a pilot gave me the opportunity to compete at a high level and uphold the values of the organisation.”

Skeleton athlete Nathan Crumpton was named as the winner of the Rookie of the Year award, while Kyle Brown was the recipient of the Skeleton Athletes’ Choice.

 Terra Evans and Carlo Valdes were named as the winners of the Women’s and Men’s Bobsled Athletes’ Choice awards, with members of national teams having had one vote each.
