Canada's Milos Raonic was a high-profile casualty as the French Open continued at Roland Garros today.

The number eight seed went down in straight sets to Spain's world number 55 Albert Ramos-Vinolas in the fourth round, 6-2, 6-4, 6-4.

Ramos-Vinolas can now look forward to the quarter-finals at the clay court Grand Slam in Paris, after previously never making it past round two at any of the four majors.

He broke Raonic, a quarter-finalist in France in 2014, five times in his victory and had his serve broken just once.

In the last eight he will meet Switzerland's defending champion Stan Wawrinka, the third seed, who saw off Slovakia's Viktor Troicki 7-6, 6-7, 6-3, 6-2.

Britain's number two seed Andy Murray - who needed five sets to win both of his opening matches, has now cruised through rounds three and four in straight sets after dispatching American John Isner.

The Olympic champion ousted the US player 7-6, 6-4, 6-3.

In the women's competition, last year's Wimbledon finalist Garbiñe Muguruza knocked out Russia's Svetlana Kuznetsova to make the last eight.

The Spanish number four seed beat her 13th ranked rival 6-3, 6-4.

Unseeded American Shelby Rogers also advanced, ousting Romania's number 25 seed Irina-Camelia Begu 6-3, 6-4.
