Taiwan’s Hsin-Yu Lin has targeted a place at the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Wheelchair Dance Sport Asian Championships.

Competition is scheduled to take place at the Sanchong District Complex Gymnasium between November 5 and 6 this year and Lin is hopefully of representing her nation in front of a home crowd.

It will be the inaugural edition of the event, with the IPC having expressed that aim of the Championships is to boost wheelchair dance sport on the continent.

Lin, who took up the sport in 2011, believes the competition will prove to be a key moment in the development of the wheelchair dancing.

Having begun her season with a fifth place finish in the duo standard at the Kazakhstan Open last month, as well as a seventh in the combi-standard with her partner Po Cheng Wu, Lin is hopeful of further improvements in the build-up to the Championships.

“Our performance was not satisfactory in Kazakhstan, especially in the standard dance,” she said.

“We need to think about how to improve these shortcomings.

“In duo standard and combi standard, we need to strengthen and improve with practice.”

The Taiwanese star is currently ranked in the top 10 in the world rankings for both events and will look to compete at the 2016 World Cup in St. Petersburg during September to hone her preparations.

Around 60 dancers from seven countries are expected to compete at the Championships, which will bring the 2016 season to a close.

The Championships, which will be held from November 5 to 6, will feature a full programme of combi, duo and singles dances across standard, Latin American and freestyle events.
