Ticketek Australia has been appointed as the official ticket agent of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.

The company, which has 37 years of experience, will provide "ticketing technology and marketing services" for the Games in two years' time.

Gold Coast 2018 chairman Nigel Chamier said he was confident Ticketek would ensure successful ticketing solutions for those visiting the Australian resort for the Games.

"Ticketek has consistently proven its capability in the market place, providing ticketing for some of the country’s biggest venues and events with more than 23 million tickets sold across 20,000 national events annually," he said.

“Ticketek will provide an end to end service, managing all operational aspects across their advanced multi-channel ticket sales network.

Geoff Jones, the chief executive of Ticketek, said he was "thrilled" by the link-up.

"We will be rolling out the latest technologies for the Commonwealth Games to deliver the best experiences for attendees from their ticket purchase through to their event day," he said.

"There has been significant change in ticketing since Australia last hosted the Games in 2006, and Ticketek has been at the forefront of this advancement, ensuring the latest cutting-edge ticketing solutions will be available for Gold Coast 2018.”
