World number one and home favourite Sara Lopez posted 710 points out of a possible 720 to take pole position in the women’s compound competition at the second stage of the Archery World Cup in Medellín in Colombia.

The 21-year-old was 12 points clear of second-placed archer Crystal Gauvin of the United States, who managed 698 in the ranking round and advances as second seed for the second World Cup stage in a row.

Denmark’s Sarah Sonnichsen, who Lopez beat in the final of stage one in Shanghai, ranked third on 696 points.

The Colombian women’s compound team also took the top seeding with a total of 2,087 points, made up of Lopez’s 710, Alejandra Usquiano’s 689 and a 688 from Aura Maria Bravo, her best in international competition.

"I love shooting here and my team-mates did a great job," said Lopez.

Reigning world champion Stephan Hansen of Denmark and the US's Alex Wifler equalled Lopez’s score to lead the men’s compound ranking field.

Wifler clinched the number one seeding on the number of 10s - 33 to Hansen’s 32.
