Germany’s Yannick Hofmann earned a gold medal in the men’s skeet on the final day of the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Junior World Cup in front of a home crowd in Suhl.

After impressing in the semi-final stage of the competition, Hofmann faced the challenge of Cyprus’ Nicolas Vasiliou, with both shooters having hit 15 of the 16 targets.

Neither athlete was able to match their performance in the gold medal contest, Hofmann earning a 13-12 victory over his rival to finish top of the podium.

Russia’s Alexey Belov celebrated earning the bronze medal after he defeated Mikkel Petersen by 14-13 following the Danish shooter missing his final target of the contest.

Petersen, though, claimed gold in the team competition with his compatriots Alexander Karlsen and Emil Kjelgaard.

The trio saw off competition from the Finnish and Russian teams, who were forced to settle for silver and bronze medals respectively.

Russia’s Maxim Kabatskiy secured the men’s trap title after beating the Czech Republic’s CJosef Navrtil in the gold medal contest 11-10.

The bronze was earned by Australia’s Jack Wallace, the 2014 World Junior Championship silver medallist beating France’s Damien Ichard 13-8.

Wallace’s performance help guide his country to the team title, as alongside brothers Samuel and Adam Bylsma they saw off competition from Italy and France.

The World Cup saw the Italian team finish top of the medals table after they claimed a total of seven golds, four silver and one bronze.

Paolo Monna had proved to be their star performer, having triumphed in both the men’s 50m pistol and 10m air pistol competitions during the course of the competition.

Russia finished as the second most successful nation with five gold, six silver and nine bronze medals, with hosts Germany ending in third position after their shooters earned five titles, as well as three silver and bronze medals.
