Greece, Serbia and Italy preserved their 100 per cent records to remain top of their respective groups after the fifth and penultimate round of the 2016 International Swimming Federation (FINA) Men’s Water Polo World League.

Georgia played host to Group A leaders Greece in Tbilisi, where they fell to a 15-8 defeat.

In the same group, Hungary visited their neighbours Romania and triumphed 15-7.

Reigning world champions Serbia faced Spain in Barcelona, winning 14-13 to stay top of Group B.

Montenegro proved too strong for the France in Herceg Novi with the Balkan team coming out 17-4 winners.

Olympic champions Croatia defeated Russia 14-10 in Ruza to keep the pressure on Group C frontrunners Italy, who thrashed Turkey 22-7 on their travels.

The sixth and last round of the men's European preliminaries are due to take place on May 10.

In the women's league, the sixth round of European matches is scheduled for May 3.

The Men's Intercontinental Tournament is set to be held in Japanese city Yokohama from May 10 to 15, followed by the Super Final in June in Huizhou, China.
