Austria's ski-cross team have begun their preparations for the new season despite the previous campaign only just finishing.

The nation's talent were put through their paces at the South Tyrolean Schnals Valley, with snow conditions still suitable for practice.

The 2015-16 International Ski Federation (FIS) Ski-Cross World Cup season concluded on March 4 with an event in Arosa in Switzerland, with the new campaign not due to start until December.

Giant-slalom sessions were carried out and equipment was also put to the test.

In addition, the national team practiced ski-cross specific elements such as the start and roller sections.

"The training was fruitful," said head coach Gerold Posch.

"We did some ski tests to check out different boots and binding settings.

"We were able to pull off the whole programme we have been coming for and definitely gained some very interesting data."

Reigning world champion Andrea Limbacher was the only Austrian to win a World Cup event in 2015-16, triumphing in Innichen in Italy on December 20 and then again in South Korea at the test event for the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympics on February 28.

She was missing from the sessions, however, due to a knee injury suffered in Arosa.

“I took it easy in the first six weeks after my surgery and allowed my knee to rest," she said.

"But now that I'm not depending on crutches anymore, it's time to start with the muscle growth again.

"I will take it step by step now.

"I know that it will take some time, but I'm happy how my knee is doing right now.

"That helps a lot for the future weeks."
