August 23 - Munich's bid to host the 2018 Olympics and Paralympics was invited to play a key role in an open day held by Germany's Federal Ministry of the Interior in the country's capital, Berlin.


As the Ministry opened its doors to the public, Munich 2018 presented its bid and enthralled thousands of sports fans by parading its successful sports ambassadors.
 
These included Anja Huber, Olympic bronze medallist in skeleton, Andrea Rothfuss, four-time Olympic medallist in alpine skiing, Kevin Kuske, five-time Olympic medallist in bobsleigh; Felix Loch, Olympic gold medallist in luge, and and Magdalena Neuner (pictured), the two-time Olympic gold medallist in biathlon. 
  
All he ambassadors posed for photographs and signed autographs.  

Neuner said: "This is a great opportunity to engage with the public outside of Bavaria in support of Munich 2018.

"Backing from the Government and the people of Berlin is important since many successful athletes, especially speed skaters, come to train in the capital city.

"Moreover, the whole nation would benefit should Munich be selected to host the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games and this demonstration of enthusiastic support from across Germany will further strengthen Munich 2018’s bid."
