The Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) has unveiled the official uninform its athletes will wear during the Opening Ceremony of Rio 2016 at a special event held on Bondi Beach.

Designed by Sportscraft, one of the country’s leading retailers, established in 1914, the uniform features striped mint green blazers with dark green trim, with white shorts for men and white skirts for women.

The lightweight jackets are lined with the names of Australian Olympic champions and are emblazoned with the AOC logo, while the AOC’s coat of arms adorns the buttons.

Men will wear a gold tie with green stripes and the women will wear silk scarves printed with the Southern Cross motif.

“Our athletes have trained for years, for decades to earn the right to have that blazer and it's a blazer that they will keep, they'll treasure and they'll wear for the rest of their lives,” Australia’s Rio 2016 Chef de Mission Kitty Chiller told ABC.

"The Australian Olympic Committee really liked that these looks have a real sense of occasion,” Adrian Jones, chief of Sportscraft's parent company APG & Co told Fairfax Media.

“We are going to have a very well-dressed team come August.

"People intimately involved with the Olympics have said to me that this is the best Australian uniform yet."
