Liqui Moly has been signed up as a sponsor of this year's European Athletics Championships in Amsterdam.

The German oils and lubricants company will be an International Partner for the event in the Dutch capital between July 6 and 10.

Other sponsors already in place include retail chain SPAR, cheese company Le Gruyère, watch firm Omega and Eurovision.

The agreement is the first to be signed after European Athletics marketing intiative, a new joint venture between the governing body and Swiss-based sports marketing agency Tridem Sports.

The main task of the venture is to develop the sponsorship programmes of major events and work with local organising committees to optimise event revenues.

"We are pleased that our new marketing venture has brought Liqui Moly into the fold as an important partner for Amsterdam 2016," said European Athletics President Svein Arne Hansen.

"We feel that the top performance of our products is a nice fit to the top performance of the athletes.

"We are proud to be part of this journey to Amsterdam 2016.”
