The teenager, who won the first of the four World Cup events in Cardrona in New Zealand in August, scored 87.13 points on the Czech course which was enough for overall glory.

He finished the season on 2520 points with another American, Brandon Davis, ending on 1630.

Third overall went to Canada's Max Eberhardt who ended with a score of 1610.

Eberhardt was the only challenger to Corning for overall honours after Davis failed to make it through qualification, but the Canadian finished fourth.

Victory on the day went to Jamie Nicholls as Great Britain enjoyed a good day in both the men's and women's competitions.

He scored 87.14 to edge out Corning for gold, with fellow Briton Billy Morgan scoring 84.91 for bronze.

In the women's event, American Jamie Anderson was confirmed as overall World Cup champion despite not appearing in Spindleruv Mlyn.

Anderson only competed in two of the four World Cups, winning both in Cardrona and Pyeongchang.

That gave her 2000 points but her compatriot Karly Shorr knew that a second place finish or better today would hand her the crown.

She could only come fifth, however, and ends the season with a tally of 1850 ahead of Germany's Silvia Mittermueller who finishes on 1660.

It was Mittermueller who won on the day, scoring 78.54 to beat Britain's Katie Ormerod, who managed 73.55, into silver.

Czech snowboarder Sarka Pančochová did enough for the bronze medal with 67.99.
