The 20-year-old won the small final to claim 450 points, which gave her an unbeatable tally of 5100 at the top of the standings.

Moioli led the way going into today's racing with Czech Olympic champion Eva Samková her nearest challenger.

After a surprise elimination in the semi-finals, the Italian faced an anxious wait as the Sochi 2014 gold medallist progressed to the big final where victory would have handed her the overall title.

She could only manage second though as the race win went to Australia's Belle Brockhoff, and Moioli was left to claim the spoils.

Samková ends the season on 5060 points with Brockhoff finishing third on 4460.

France claimed third and fourth places in the big final, with Chloe Trespeuch leading home Nelly Moenne Loccoz.

The latter has now passed on her title to Moioli, who finished on the podium five times this season, including victory in Veysonnaz in Switzerland on March 6.

"I never felt so good before," said Moioli.

"I'm very happy about the World Cup title win.

"I didn't do as good as I wanted today, so it got tight in the end but that's boardercross – and I won the title."

In the men's competition today, Alex Pullin made it a double success for Australia by claiming gold.

He beat Kevin Hill of Canada into second with Spain's Lucas Eguibar, the top qualifier, ensuring home representation on the podium with bronze.

France's Pierre Vaultier, who had already secured the overall title, was fourth in the race for the medals.

He finishes the season with a commanding 5140 points, with second placed Alessandro Hämmerle of Austria adrift on 3840.

Eguibar claimed third overall on 3366.
