Spain's Lucas Eguibar continued his superb form on the International Ski Federation (FIS) Snowboard Cross World Cup circuit by leading qualification on home snow in Baqueira Beret.

Eguibar, junior world champion in 2013, gained his first World Cup victory of the season by triumphing in Veysonnaz last week for the second successive year.

He qualified today ahead of another in-form snowboarder, Austria's Alessandro Hämmerle, who has finished third in each of the last two legs after winning the season opener in Montafon.

Russia's Aleksandr Guzachev qualified in third place.

France's Pierre Vaultier finished in 19th but has already clinched the overall World Cup title.

Hämmerle lies second overall.

The Spanish leg is the final event of the World Cup season following the cancellation of last week's planned event in Squaw Valley.

There was no qualification in the women's event.

A straight final is set to be held alongside the men's medal races tomorrow.
