Finland's Matti Suur-Hamari finished ahead of American SB-LL2 rival Michael Shea in dramatic fashion today as the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Snowboard World Cup came to a close in Trentino.

The dominant duo were tied for the overall lead after Suur-Hamari won yesterday's penultimate race in the Italian resort.

They were all set for a winner-takes-all showdown before Shea was dramatically knocked-out of contention in the semi-final.

Compatriot Evan Strong, the Sochi 2014 Paralympic champion who has struggled to recapture his best form this year, produced a superb performance to beat him and reach the final.

Suur-Hamari was too strong, however, to claim victory both on the day and in the overall series.

Shea won the small-final against a third American in Keith Gabel to seal third place today and second overall.

Strong finished third in the World Cup standings.

There was no stopping women's Sochi 2014 winner Bibian Mentel-Spee in the women’s SB-LL2 class, with the Dutch star sealing her seventh victory of the season after beating compatriot Lisa Bunschoten.

US rival Heidi Jo Duce was third, winning her small final ahead of Australia’s Joany Badenhorst.

More Dutch success came in the men's SB-LL1 class when Dutch world champion Chris Vos overcame Austrian rival Reinhold Schett.

There was another Dutch-Austrian battle for bronze, with the same result at the end of it, after Mike Ultee got the better of Rene Eckhart.

Austria’s Patrick Mayrhofer recovered from a disappointing race yesterday to return to the top of the podium in the men’s SB-UL.

He took maximum points in the big final ahead of Australia’s Simon Patmore.

American Michael Minor placed third.

A third Dutch win came in the women's SB-UL class when Renske van Beek beat Italy’s Sarah’s Dorigatti for the second day in a row.

Van Beek finished with three race wins to claim the overall globe.

French Paralympic silver medallist Cecile Hernandez-Cervellon won her big final against Canada’s Michelle Salt in the women’s SB-LL1 class.

There were only two entrants in both the female SB-UL and SB-LL1 classes.
