Los Angeles 2024 has partnered with video messaging application Snapchat to offer local citizens in select neighbourhoods special geofilters which will allow them to decorate their photo and video snaps with the newly-launched bid logo.

The partnership with the Los Angeles-based company, which boasts 100 million daily active users, the majority aged between 13 and 34, reaffirms the commitment of officials to reinvigorate the Olympic Movement’s connection to worldwide youth, creativity and innovation, they claimed.

Throughout the next few weeks, these geofilters will be available at a variety of cluster that will host events if Los Angeles is awarded the Olympics and Paralympics.

These include University of California and Santa Monica Pier in the coastal cluster, the University of Southern California, the Coliseum and LA Live in the downtown cluster, Sepulveda Dam Recreation Area in the valley cluster, StubHub Center complex in the South Bay Cluster.

Last week, Los Angeles 2024 released its official logo and slogan to "Follow the Sun", a reference to what, officials claim, is the city's sunshine, optimism and constant reinvention.

They also released its Games Plan which capitalises on the diverse topography and world-class sports infrastructure already at the City’s disposal.

Los Angeles 2024 is now inviting Snapchatters at potential host sites around the city to embrace the Olympic spirit by adding LA 2024 branding to their own Snaps.

"Los Angeles is a world-leader in creativity and innovation, and LA 2024 will put California’s unparalleled tech and innovation capability at the service of the Olympic Movement," Casey Wasserman, the chairman of Los Angeles 2024, said.

"We have set out our vision to create a new Games for a new era and with 10 of the world’s top tech companies based in Los Angeles and the wider California region, we are able to draw upon an abundance of creative expertise to help achieve this vision.

"We are thrilled to have Snapchat on board to help celebrate the potential of an LA Games and promote the Olympic Movement in new and compelling ways."
