The National Olympic Committee of El Salvador (ESNOC) has held a ceremony in honour of the athletes it will send to the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in August.

There was a Brazilian theme to proceedings with carioca music, which originated in Rio, playing during the evening.

The colour scheme was also yellow and green, reflecting the Brazilian flag.

Among those in attendance were ESNOC President Eduardo Palomo and vice presidents Arrieta Manuel and Vilma de Flamenco.

Representatives of the companies and institutions that will accompany the NOC and the athletes in Rio, and during the build-up to the Games, were also present.

El Salvador has also carried out medical tests on the athletes who could represent the central American country in Brazil.

The examinations were intended to test the physical condition of athletes, and took into account strength, speed, endurance, body fat percentage and resilience.

Ten athletes represented El Salvador at London 2012, which was the country's tenth appearance at the Summer Olympics.

However, they are still waiting for their first medal of any colour.
