Rome has signed up the company in charge of the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic ceremonies to produce its official candidacy event for its 2024 Summer Olympics bid.

Organisers in the Italian capital will present to more than 1,000 guests at the Palazzo dei Congressi Eur tomorrow and have promised a "great show" after bringing in the expertise of Filmmaster Events.

The Italian company were previously involved in the ceremonies at the Turin 2006 Winter Olympics and Paralympics - the last time the Games were held in the country.

Guests will be taken on a journey from 1960, when Rome last held the Summer Olympics, to 2024 with official delegations, Olympians and celebrities among those in attendance.

On a more serious note, Rome will outline its vision for the Games and its budget, with all four candidates due to submit the first part of their candidature files to the International Olympic Committee tomorrow.

Rome will hand in its documents on flash drives, in an effort to reduce the environmental impact.

Luca di Montezemolo, President of the Rome 2024 Committee, and Italian Olympic Committee President Giovanni Malagò will be among the officials in attendance.

They will be joined by the vice president of the Bid Committee Luca Pancalli, general coordinator Diana Bianchedi and athletes relations manager Fiona May.

Alfredo Accatino, Creative and Artistic Director for Filmmaster Events, said: “The event for Rome 2024 will be a huge show.

"We will follow the protocol but we will also add a highly emotional part, thanks to the participation of international artists who do not belong to the sports industry.

"They will create moments of pure entertainment and big emotions.

"New technological equipment has been created specifically for this occasion.

"It will end with a huge surprise, a reference to one of the most beautiful moments of Rome 1960 Olympic Ceremonies.

"As in 1960, the audience will be involved to create a very special moment.”

In Rio de Janeiro, Filmmaster will be responsible for organising both the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, as well as the Torch Relay.

The company will also present the Champions League Opening Ceremony in May.

Budapest, Los Angeles and Paris are also bidding for the 2024 Olympics, with the IOC due to elect a host in Lima in 2017.
