Russia’s Ivan Frantsev, Austria's Markus Salcher and South Korean Sang Min Han ensured they finished the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Europa Cup event in Stara Planina with a hat-trick of golds as they all claimed two victories on the final day of competition.

Paralympic champion Salcher began the day in style as he won the rescheduled second men’s standing downhill race, which had been due to take place yesterday but was moved because of bad weather, as he clocked 1min 01.38sec.

Alexander Vetrov of Russia was second, while his team-mate Aleksei Bugaev, the reigning world champion, earned bronze.

The Austrian, who reigned supreme in the first downhill race of the event in the Serbian resort, then clinched victory in the super-G competition by completing the course in 59.11.

Vetrov had to settle for silver once again as Bugaev took third to ensure the podium for the race looked the same as the downhill event earlier in the day.

Han was also in superb form as he dominated the men’s sitting competitions, claiming another two wins to add to his success on Wednesday (February 3).

The South Korean narrowly finished ahead of compatriot Chi Won Lee in the downhill race in a time of 1:12.38, with his team-mate a mere 0.04 seconds adrift in the silver medal position.

Pavel Bambousek of the Czech Republic was five seconds behind as he did enough to seal bronze.

Just as in the men’s sitting events, the same three athletes finished in the medal positions in the super-G as Han again ousted Lee by clocking a time of 1:11.34.

Lee finished the race in 1:11.83 as the South Korean dominance continued, with Bambousek picking up his second bronze of the day in 1:14.05.

Frantsev, guided by German Agranovskii, powered to victory in the downhill in 1:08.49 before he maintained his monopoly of the event by coming home in 1:04.96 to win the super-G.

The IPC Alpine Skiing Europa Cup season continues on Monday (February 8) with the next stop on the calendar in Espot, Spain.
